Attend An Event Parking Update
It's still convenient to park while visiting the Career Center in the downtown East Baton Rouge Parish Library even though construction has begun on the new Courthouse. Two River Center parking garages are located 2 blocks away on the corner of St. Louis and Government Streets. The Third Street Parking Garage has opened on the corner of Third and Convention Streets, two blocks the other way (enter from Convention).



State Civil Service Tips
The Baton Rouge Testing and Rescruiting Office of Louisiana State Civil Service holds a presentation entitles "Applying for State Employment: How to Find the Perfect Job." The program is presented every Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in their office on the first floor of the Agriculture & Forestry Bldg., 5825 Florida Blvd. in Baton Rouge.



Computer Classes
SeniorNet offers various level of computer classes at East Baton Rouge Council on Aging offices. Classes beginning in March include Basic Keyboarding, Introduction to Computers, Computer Fundamentals and Windows. Fees are $45 to $65, depending on the class. Vetrinary Medicine Career Fair
Whether you want to be a veterinarian or are just exploring health profession and science careers, get all the information you need about veterinary medicine at a unique career fair devoted to this profession. It will be held on Friday, July 19, 2008, from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the New Orleans Hilton River Side in New Orleans, LA.
Admissions directors, administrators and alumni from colleges of veterinary medicine will be on hand to answer your questions. Informational presentations will be given on practice types, careers, academic and application information. This is a great event for students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors and pre-health advisors.



Free Job Training through MINACT, INC
For information on free job training in the hospitality iondustry and facility maintenance, contact LaQuinta Plummer at 225-383-3404. MINACT, INC., a national vocational education training and career development company, operates these programs through a U.S. Dept. of Labor National Emergency Grant. All books, supplies, uniforms and lunch are provided usually without charge. Applicants must be 18 years or older.

EBRP Adult Education
Need help with preparation for Civil Service or Occupational job testing? Want to brush up your computer skills before job hunting? The Christa McAuliffe Center at 12000 Goodwood Blvd. offers free adult education courses. Call 226-7631 in the summer on Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to be sure a counselor is available. Then go in before 5:00 to talk to a counselor and register. Allow a couple of hours. Bring a picture ID and proof of Social Security number. If you're 17, bring a birth certificate and a parent or guardian to sign the papers.
